2021 Achievement Award Winners and New 25 Year Members

This years Achievement Awards and new 25 year members were announced at the Winter Banquet on December 5. All told, 41 different individuals won a total of 58 Achievement awards; obviously some members won more than one award. Here is a photo of all the winners who were present at the banquet. This years winners each received a white bikers hat with the new 65th Anniversary logo on the front and 2021 Achievement Award on the side. There were two new 25 year members; they each received an ingraved paperweight.

Following is a list of the 12 Achievement Awards and who won them.

Millennium Award
This award is given to all members who hike 1,000 or more miles during the Club year. This year there we 25 winners of this award. Here is a photo of the winners and here are their names:
Glee Crowder  - Not only did Glee hike the most miles again this year, for the 9th year in a row but she also holds the record
                for the most miles hiked in a year - 3,368.  During 2021 she also became the first member ever to hike more than 50,000 miles.  
                She finished the year with an incredible 52,572 miles. Here is a photo of Glee being recognized by Ed.

Pathfinder Award
This award is given to any member who leads 50 or more hikes during the year. Here is a photo of the winners who were present at the banquet and here are names of the the 13 winners:

Marathon Award
This award is given to members who participate on the longest hike of the year. This year there was only one winner of this award new member Scott Beam who hiked the incredibly challenging Knob Stone Trail for 26 miles.

Trail Blazer Award
The Trail Blazer Award is given to any member who led 15 or more different hikes during the past year. Everyone enjoys an new hike and this is one of the more difficult awards to win. This year we have five winners:

Milestone Award
This award is given to any member who has attained more than 10,000 lifetime miles with the Club. This year we have four winners:

Trail Maintenance Award
This award is given to any member who has contributed 16 or more volunteer hours on a trail maintenance project, although most of this years winners go far beyond that, sometimes volunteering 100 or more hours of their time to give something back to the trails we all love to hike. Club Service Award
This award is given by the Board of Directors to any member the board feels deserves special recognition for thir service to the Club. This year the board has chosen recognize Bob Kriz, who underwrote 100% of the cost of the 65th Anniversary Book which was distirubed to all members. Here ois a photo of Bob.

Indyhike.org Award
It come as no surprise to anyone in the Club that Phil Coons once again won this award for supplying the most photos to the Club website. Phil also maintains our great Facebook page too. Here is a photo of Phil.

Membership Award
This award is given to any member who recruits at least three new members to our Club during the past year. This year the Board decided it was time to recognize Bob Hackenberg for the incredible web site he developed and continues to enhance. The number one reason cited by new members for joining the Club is our website.

Pinnacle Award
Sorry to say there was no winner of the Bill and Nell Larrison Pinnacle Award this year. This award is very difficult to win and only two members have ever won it - Glee Crowder and David Kincaid. To win this award you must hike over 1,000 miles, lead over 50 hikes, lead 12 different hikes and contribute 16 or more hours. of trail maintenance.
